A healthy body and mind is something we all want, but achieving that pink of health seems like a challenge. Especially, if you are dwelling in the urban world, wherein every minute is no less than race to stay ahead of time.

Unfortunately, we often end up compromising on our health, which eventually paves a way for several lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure etc.

As per a recent study published in the Journal of Functional Foods it was mentioned that eating white button mushrooms daily can work as prebiotic by improving the microbial community in the gut, which could then improve the regulation of glucose in the liver.

In fact, the study also established that these results were observed only after feeding the white button mushrooms to mice as it was seen that there was a change in the composition of gut microbes, microbiota- to produce more short chain fatty acids, specifically propionate from succinate, as per the researchers.

In fact, as per the research there are succinate and propionate, which eventually change the expression of genes that are required to manage glucose production.

According to the research, the studies were conducted on mice, where they were fed on mushrooms as they had set off a chain reaction among the gut bacteria.

It was observed that the acids lead to changes in the expression of genes, which is a pathway between the brain and the gut that helps in managing the production of glucose.

Interestingly, the presence of healthy bacteria in mushrooms works as a good prebiotic, which feeds good bacteria that already exist in the gut. Our body needs probiotics for a healthy digestive system.
